About Us

Background: Some ZHCET alumni in North America were approached by ZHCET students competing in SAE Baja 2013 competition.  Students wanted to raise $3,000 by December 2012 to build an All-terrain vehicle.  Several AMU Alumni Association were approached by ZHCET alumni, but no one committed.  A group of like minded ZHCET Alumni saw the need for an Engineering focused group that could support such projects.  ZHCET-NA was formed.


Mission: The mission of the Association is to support and promote the Zakir Hussain College Of Engineering & Technology, AMU in its pursuits of excellence in teaching, research and public service and to foster a spirit of loyalty, involvement and life-long commitment to the College by its alumni and well-wishers.

PurposeAs set forth in the Articles of Incorporation, the ZHCET-NA, Inc is organized as the alumni association of graduates of Zakir Hussain College Of Engineering & Technology (ZHCET), Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), India who are based in North America, especially USA and Canada.  The ZHCET-NA is organized exclusively for charitable, educational, and scientific purposes, including, for such purposes, the making of distributions to organizations that qualify as exempt organizations under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, or the corresponding section of any future federal tax code.

Goals: The primary goals of ZHCET-NA are:

  • Connect ZHCET graduates in North America (USA and Canada) under one umbrella organization.
  • Support ZHCET students and graduates who are interested in pursuing higher studies in North America universities.
  • Mentor and support AMU engineering students in various undergraduate projects (such as SAE Baja competition, national robotics competition etc) so they can get hands on practical experience
  • Promote entrepreneurship among ZHCET graduates and ZHCET students.
  • Recognize ZHCET graduates (who are contributing to excellence in science, technology and entrepreneurship) in North America
  • Recognize ZHCET students who are winning National/International level competitions.
  • Promote and create an environment for student exchange programs and other collaborations between AMU and well renowned US universities.
  • Help AMU students settle down in North America
  • Organize short workshops, tutorials on various advance engineering topics in AMU and via online from North America
  • Help AMU students with GRE, GMAT and TOEFL preparation.
  • Share information about various post-doctoral fellowships, Ph.D & M.S. scholarships and internship opportunities in US and Canada with AMU students.
