Advance Cane System For Assisting Visually Impaired :
Visual
Impairment has been one of the common unsolvable issues faced by the
modern day society. From prehistoric times to present day world, no
perfect solution has been found to repair the eyesight of visually
impaired. As of WHO Facts about 285 million people are
estimated to be visually impaired out of which about 39 million are
totally blind and rests have low or poor vision.About 90% of the
world's visually impaired live in low-income settings and 82% of
people living with blindness are aged 50 and above. A large number of blind people in a country denote poor socio-economic development and inefficient eye care service in the country. There have been tremendous efforts in various fields to make recovery for the impaired such as government making organizations, eye care centres, schools for blinds, campaigns etc. but still a lot problems remain unsolved. One such solution to this problem to help them is to make an advance version of the cane that is used by blinds to detect obstacles. But still the version of available solution are high end and can't be afforded by lower and middle class visually impaired people. So to cope with this, an affordable advance cane system is demonstrated which employs new features and is very much affordable to be accommodated by lower and middle class visually impaired people of the society. First prototype of the proposed system :
After the testing of first prototype we improve our design and reduce the circuit complexity by this we reduces the power consumption also. Now the system can run for days. New system design :
(A) This design runs on two 9 volts battery: (B) This design runs on four AA batteries :
We moved the circuit from General purpose PCB to Custom designed PCB , which is according to design requirement. Images of PCB is attached below.
We improve our case design after receiving the valuable suggestions given by the students and teachers of Ahamadi School AMU Aligarh. The die for this case is in the manufacturing and the final renderings of case is attached below.
Proposal letter is attached below
